In trying to find just what groups do we serve, it is becoming clear that a place where we fit the best is in the Post Adoption Support Services area (www.postadoptionsupportservices.com). In fact, we are quickly becoming a Premier Post Adoption Support Services Resource provider as we continue to expand our reach to agencies, organizations, schools, social services departments, professionals as well as parents. We want to offer the world elements, strategies, tools, information and models that can further expand our ability to experience and hunger for unconditional love. We hope to show that not only is this possible, but might even be what life is all about – and to do what we can to eliminate fear and bring peace on earth and goodwill toward all.
To do this, we need you to help point out resources that we can offer to our network and to the world. Stuff that not only works, but helps bring peace, harmony, happiness, joy, freedom and more love to our parents and professionals. We need stories of heroism, of failure, of everyday stuff that will encourage, inspire and motivate each and every parent struggling with a child who needs love – “especially when he or she misbehaves, because that is when they need it the most” (thank Pat O’Brien for that gem).
There may be a place on our website for you. For some it might be on the Resources page – send us info so that we might consider putting you or your services there. Anther place is our Partner page, where we offer a page to those who offer quality services to those we serve – and are in alignment with our goals and purposes. If you feel you might be a good partner with POST, let us know. Send an email, call us or mail a package telling us all about your company or services. For others, it may be just a short note, a message on Facebook, Twitter or our blog letting know of your personal story or of a great book you read or movie you saw. We welcome you. We need you. As long as there are struggling parents, we will continue to offer hope, help or sometimes just a shoulder to lean on.
Oh yeah, if you haven’t seen the HBO movie currently playing titled Temple Grandin, SEE IT (Bryan’s Stress Model in action). Her story of her struggle with autism has inspired many, and you will see the Stress Model play out right before your very eyes with her autistic behaviors - more than coincidental! If this movie doesn’t touch your heart deeply, honey, you ain’t breathin’.
Temple Grandin, Ph.D., is the most accomplished and well-known adult with autism in the world. Now her fascinating life, with all its challenges and successes has been brought to the screen.
