Watch Your Miracle Unfold With Rocket Phonics

Rocket Phonics is a research-based, scientifically proven method of teaching reading. Hands down the best phonics program available today, it’s fast, fun, easy-to-use, over three times as effective, and half the cost of competing programs. Rocket Phonics is so effective your child could be reading by the end of the very first lesson!

Created for children ages 4-10, Rocket Phonics turns reading lessons into a world of fun with games, riddles, jokes and classic stories.

Rocket Phonics Students shine using Rocket Phonics—Outperform others by nearly 4 to 1!

In a recent study, 43 home-schooled students using Rocket Phonics gained in just three months an impressive 8.9 months in reading skill. UCLA Professor James Catterall, who analyzed the study, found the Rocket Phonics students’ reading improvement was nearly four times that of the study’s other students, who used methods such as Hooked on Phonics* and The Phonics Game.*

"No one who did more than one (Rocket Phonics) lesson failed to improve his or her skills."

— Professor James Catterall, UCLA Graduate School of Education

If you'll play with your child 30 minutes a day,

Rocket Phonics can teach your child to read

Rocket Phonics’ results are consistent. Whether it is students in a study, students in classrooms or homeschool groups, or individual children in the home, students soar with Rocket Phonics.

Look at the results from a classroom teacher, who went on to use Rocket Phonics to tutor homeschool children.

“I used Rocket Phonics in my first grade classroom, and was very impressed with the reading progress of my students. At the end of our first quarter, half of my students were reading at second grade level!

"I was also pleased to find that, unlike many reading programs, Rocket Phonics is easy to use. The directions are easy to follow and the program requires minimal preparation time.   Adapting the program for use in my classroom was simple.

"In addition, Rocket Phonics offers systematic, explicit instruction.  Students begin by learning the first nine sounds in the Initial Teaching Alphabet.  Then they blend those sounds together to form individual words.  Before they know it, they are reading!  Rocket Phonics empowers children, which generates an excitement about reading -- especially for those who previously have not experienced success in reading.

"I found Rocket Phonics to be an effective part of a balanced literacy program in my classroom.  In fact, I am so impressed with this curriculum that I recently began using it to teach reading classes to home-schooled children.   It’s a simple, effective phonics program that I would recommend to any primary teacher or homeschool parent.”Patty Roberts, first grade teacher

Why we developed Rocket Phonics:

After years of research and tutoring and teaching thousands of children, the Guffantis developed Rocket Phonics, the multi-sensory, game-based reading program that uses the strongest phonics system available, with revolutionary results.

Why did we create a revolutionary way?

Often, young children (as early as 3-5 years old) are eager and interested in learning to read. Traditionally, you start to teach your child the sounds the letters make. But then your child begins to look at words such as who, and you say, “Well, the w is silent and the o sounds like oo.” Or your child looks at when, and you say, “Okay, here the h is silent. Then you decide to read numbers, and you look at the word one.  “All right,” you say, “Here the o makes the wuh sound, and the e….” Just imagine how your child feels!

English isn’t a logical, phonetic language; letters have more than one sound, or can be silent. All these different sounds can make learning to read a frustrating guessing game for children. And children hate to be wrong! So some children even do whatever they can to avoid reading altogether.

However, with Rocket Phonics, English becomes a logical, phonetic language in which each letter has only one sound. Rocket Phonics gives your child helpers. The helpers show your child how to pronounce each word so your child can read all the words in his or her spoken vocabulary! As your child learns, and no longer needs the helpers, we gradually remove them. The Rocket Phonics books includes classic stories written at first to sixth grade reading level.

Why will my child do so well with Rocket Phonics?

Because Rocket Phonics has the strongest phonics system ever invented

With Rocket Phonics, once your child begins reading non-phonetic words, we show your child how the word is pronounced as he sees and reads the word. He reads the same material both with helpers and without. As he progresses, we gradually drop off the helpers. And as he reads, we teach him complete phonics instruction, all the patterns in English. Our phonics is so complete, that by the end of Rocket Phonics, we teach how Greek roots and Latin roots affect how words are pronounced, and how accented and unaccented syllables change the pronunciation of words. We basically immerse the children in reading, so their skills improve quickly.

In fact, the Rocket Phonics method is so unique it has a patent pending.  Look at how we handle non-phonetic words. We color-code each word. The blue letters keep their sound. If the letter doesn't keep its color (blue) it doesn't keep its sound and the true sound is underneath. The child sees the word correctly spelled and decodes the word every time.

This is a very natural approach: many moms have told us, when they saw our helpers, "I did that! For non-phonetic words like was I crossed out the a and s and wrote u  z below. My child loved it and read so well!" You see, when a child is struggling to sound out words, his comprehension lags, because by the time he gets to the end of a sentence he has forgotten what he just read! But with Rocket Phonics, the entire process of learning to read becomes a pleasure, because your child is supported to succeed at every step.

Rocket Phonics goes even better and leaves the words intact, not changing the size or shape of the letters like some other methods -- so your child learns the words more quickly and easily. Kids want to read like they can talk, and with Rocket Phonics, they can! Also, kids do not want to keep asking, "What's that word?" -- They love to be independent, and with Rocket Phonics they can be.

With Rocket Phonics, before you know it, your child is an independent reader. Unlike other methods, Rocket Phonics works beautifully with all learning styles.

Reading is often a sit-down, sit-still activity, so many active, kinesthetic learners (who learn by moving around) have difficulty learning to read -- but not with Rocket Phonics! We have lots of games that get your child moving at each level, from learning his sounds, to single words, phrases, sentences, and paragraphs!

Rocket Phonics is very satisfying to auditory learners -- these are the learners who really want each word to be spelled just like it sounds. These children are especially delighted that we show them how the words are pronounced.

Visual learners also enjoy seeing how a word sounds; they learn faster by seeing. They also love Rocket Phonics because it's an accelerated program that allows them to advance rapidly.

Our helpers are one key to kids' success with Rocket Phonics. But the program doesn't start there.

Right from the start, Rocket Phonics works with all your children

“We are using Rocket Phonics with my dd, who is 10 with dyslexia. She is doing very well with it! Yay!!:) The treasure hunt games are a favorite around here!! My dd and ds (6) really get into it! I love watching siblings be so cooperative and having fun together… and they are learning to boot!! Doesn’t get any better than that!:)” Laura Gonzalez, homeschool parent, Cypress, CA

From preschoolers and beginning readers to older children, your kids can enjoy the games and activities together, and Rocket Phonics is non-consumable -- you can use it with all your kids. You just progress through the games and the two big readers. It's so easy -- and there's no prep time! As each new activity is introduced, we show you what to do and say. Our one-page Quick Start Instruction is all you need to read to begin.

Preschoolers (ages 3-5) and active learners:

Your Rocket Phonics kit includes big letter sheets and lots of big-movement, multi-sensory games to teach the letters' shapes and sounds, and beginning blending. You can see videos that show you how to introduce each sound. Your kids will play games like Letter Leap and jump onto a big letter when you say the sound.

Rocket Phonics includes phonemic awareness games you can play with your kids of all ages as you go through your day. This skill (hearing and using the smallest sound parts of words) is so important: it's the #1 skill tied to reading success!

Beginning Readers (ages 5-7):

If your child is already reading phonetic words or knows the sounds of some letters, Rocket Phonics is perfect. Just start playing games to learn the sounds he may not yet know, like oy or th. Skip the beginning activities your child already knows, like the beginning blending games or phonetic words.

We give your child lots of practice reading short, phonetic words and later, phrases. And we have a variety of thinking skill game pages on which your child reads simple phonetic words and looks at pictures to see the words in use. They are fun, rich activities that advance your child's thinking as well as reading. We also begin our thorough phonics instruction, starting with short vowel sounds.

Soon your child progresses to reading non-phonetic words, and we introduce our helpers. This is the perfect time to play games like the Word Find Treasure Hunt. Your child reads words like table or window and runs to find the bingo chip you placed there. He goes on to play the Phrase Treasure Hunt, Simon Says (where he reads sentences and you all do the silly action, like "pretend to be a duck and quack") and to read riddles, and more.

Your child soon begins the transition to independent reading and starts reading stories. Many of the stories are Aesop's Fables, stories that appeal to all ages and build cultural literacy. Our first reader includes 1st and 2nd grade stories; the second big reader includes 3rd grade - 6th grade stories.

Older children (ages 8-13) and children with learning disabilities:

Children who have been struggling with learning to read love Rocket Phonics! It makes sense, our unique multi-sensory approach helps them learn more easily and quickly, and our thorough program ensures they will have all the tools they need to be successful readers. Dyslexics and children with other learning disabilities appreciate Rocket Phonics' tools, such as our Rocket Peeker. The peeker has a window to help them focus on each word. They are delighted to learn to read at grade level.

Rocket Phonics is recommended in the book Homeschooling the Challenging Child by Christine Field.

What parents say about Rocket Phonics

“Rocket Phonics has been great for us! My son, who is 5, went from only letter recognition (with no letter-sound knowledge) to reading at beginning 1st grade level in only five months!

“We just had his reading assessed, and it blows my mind that he picked it up so quickly.

“Rocket Phonics really helped me, because I was very unsure about teaching reading, and nervous that I would not be able to do so adequately!   You really helped us out!”—Chris Button, home-school mom, Escondido, CA

“He kept asking to read more! Usually he is asking ‘How much more do I HAVE to read.’ Tonight he was saying, ‘Please, just one more, just one more.” … His eyes are doing much better with the blue and gray printing. He loves the silliness and has decided the Rocket Phonics is fun.”—Janet Cox, Caldwell, ID

“I have never felt as good about any program as I do about Rocket Phonics! I tried Rocket Phonics because my 11-year old was barely reading on 3rd grade level. After using Rocket Phonics from Sept. to the end of Jan., my 11-year old is now reading at early 5th grade!

“Rocket Phonics is one program that I can use with ALL my kids. I have FIVE children ages 3 – 11; my 5-year old amazes people with her reading ability, and even my littlest, who just turned 3, asks to do his ‘phonics cards.’

“I found the program easy to use from the ‘get-go’. I also love the included Play & Read Cards – the pictures on them are actual photos. Another benefit is the authors of the program make themselves available by email and phone.

“I have used a multitude of different phonics programs only to NOT get the results I wanted. I am so impressed with this program that I have even started a yahoo group so others that either already have the program or those who want to learn more about it can go to the group & have some support. Dr. Guffanti, the creator of the program, reads and replies to the posts as well.” — Patricia McCoy, homeschool parent, Los Banos, CA

I’m just amazed at how well my son did with Rocket Phonics. We finished Rocket Phonics in one school year, and I’m thrilled because my son, who turns 7 tomorrow, is reading chapter books. And his comprehension is good!" Debbi Tovsrud, homeschool mom

“I want to say a huge thank you for your Rocket Phonics book. Our daughter was in preschool 2 and 1/2 years ago at age 4 when we purchased it at a homeschool convention in Salt Lake City, Ut. Well, she just finished the book and she's reading wonderfully. She loves to read, especially at our family Bible reading time at night. She really does read like a 4th grader. Thank you so much. We're looking forward to using it with our two little boys as well."Pastor Matthew Conrad, Park City Baptist Church
