Why did we create a revolutionary way?
Often, young children (as early as 3-5 years old) are eager and interested in learning to read. Traditionally, you start to teach your child the sounds the letters make. But then your child begins to look at words such as who, and you say, “Well, the w is silent and the o sounds like oo.” Or your child looks at when, and you say, “Okay, here the h is silent. Then you decide to read numbers, and you look at the word one. “All right,” you say, “Here the o makes the wuh sound, and the e….” Just imagine how your child feels!
English isn’t a logical, phonetic language; letters have more than one sound, or can be silent. All these different sounds can make learning to read a frustrating guessing game for children. And children hate to be wrong! So some children even do whatever they can to avoid reading altogether.
However, with Rocket Phonics, English becomes a logical, phonetic language in which each letter has only one sound. Rocket Phonics gives your child helpers. The helpers show your child how to pronounce each word so your child can read all the words in his or her spoken vocabulary! With Rocket Phonics, once your child begins reading non-phonetic words, we show your child how the word is pronounced as he sees and reads the word. He reads the same material both with helpers and without. As he progresses, we gradually drop off the helpers. And as he reads, we teach him complete phonics instruction, all the patterns in English. Our phonics is so complete, that by the end of Rocket Phonics, we teach how Greek roots and Latin roots affect how words are pronounced, and how accented and unaccented syllables change the pronunciation of words. We basically immerse the children in reading, so their skills improve quickly.
In fact, the Rocket Phonics method is so unique it has a patent pending. Look at how we handle non-phonetic words. We color-code each word. The blue letters keep their sound. If the letter doesn't keep its color (blue) it doesn't keep its sound and the true sound is underneath. The child sees the word correctly spelled and decodes the word every time.
This is a very natural approach: many moms have told us, when they saw our helpers, "I did that! For non-phonetic words like was I crossed out the a and s and wrote u z below. Preschoolers (ages 3-5) and active learners:

Beginning
Readers (ages 5-7):

We give your child lots of practice reading short, phonetic words and later, phrases. And we have a variety of thinking skill game pages on which your child reads simple phonetic words and looks at pictures to see the words in use. They are fun, rich activities that advance your child's thinking as well as reading. We also begin our thorough phonics instruction, starting with short vowel sounds.
Soon your child progresses to reading non-phonetic words, and we introduce our helpers. This is the perfect time to play games like the Word Find Treasure Hunt. Your child reads words like table or window and runs to find the bingo chip you placed there. He goes on to play the Phrase Treasure Hunt, Simon Says (where he reads sentences and you all do the silly action, like "pretend to be a duck and quack") and to read riddles, and more.
Your child soon begins the transition to independent reading and starts reading stories. Many of the stories are Aesop's Fables, stories that appeal to all ages and build cultural literacy. Our first reader includes 1st and 2nd grade stories; the second big reader includes 3rd grade - 6th grade stories.
Older children (ages 8-13) and children with learning disabilities:
