Dr. Post’s Intensive Adult Attachment Therapy Boot Camp
April 27-30, 2005 July 21-23, 2005 A special intensive attachment therapy event for any adult struggling with issues related to reactive attachment disorder. If you’ve ever struggled to maintain relationships and feel secure with intimacy this is a must attend event. This event is also an opportunity for therapists to receive training in applying the Stress Model when working with adults. Educational material included.
Do you have difficulty forming and maintaining intimate relationships? Do you ever feel like your anger gets out of control, pushing away people that you care about? Do you engage in substance abuse to cope with overwhelming feelings? Have you ever been referred to an anger management class? Does depression catch you by surprise leaving you feeling overwhelmed and inadequate? If you can answer yes to any of the above questions then you should attend the Intensive Adult Attachment Retreat. One of the first programs of it’s kind offered to adults with attachment issues, the Intensive Adult Attachment Retreat offered by the Post Institute during the Summer of 2004 is a life-changing event. Attachment issues generally stem from traumatic childhood events which have not been fully integrated into the bodymind’s memory system. In this manner, the individual acts out unconsciously the hidden negative messages scripted into their lives stemming from the trauma. Such common feelings revolve around the fear of rejection, abandonment, insecurity, and low self-worth. Often in the midst of a stressful encounter with a significant other this individual will become overwhelmed, demonstrating irrational anger, depression, and confusion leading to a cascade of negative behavior patterns. Unfortunately, what’s often times misunderstood about this individual is that he or she is not angry at all but rather fearful! By focusing only on anger society continues to act out primal stories of threat and survival, unable to see clearly the essence of human functioning. The individual with an early trauma history and subsequent attachment issues gets literally overwhelmed by the constant blame placed upon their behavior. As long as you continue to believe that anger is your problem, you will continue to make the same recurring relationship decisions. How will you benefit from this event? · Benefit from working in an environment of support and healing as you are encouraged to challenge your core negative beliefs. · Identify the single greatest dynamic in your life causing you constant pain. · Learn specific strategies for expressing buried emotions. · Learn what Stephen Covey means when he says, “Upset feelings never die. They are buried alive and come back as something uglier!” · Understand how the body bears the burden of a traumatic past. · Develop insight and understanding about yourself that you never believed possible. · Learn what your primary trigger point is and how to recognize it when it is getting pulled. · Develop an immediate understanding into why you sometimes think and feel the way you do. · Understand the difference between emotion and feeling. This can make all of the difference. · Experience what therapy is truly supposed to feel like. · Explore the deepest depths of the “locked door” and come away feeling free because of it. · Hear the stories of others that have similar feelings and experiences such as your own. You are not alone. · Enjoy the invigorating feeling of not feeling like you are crazy! · Understand how your past influences your present and will ultimately determine your future unless you do something about it. · Experience the power of NOW. · Experience becoming empowered to finally take responsibility for your life. · Learn how to never feel like a victim to another person or event. · And much, much more! The Intensive Attachment Therapy Retreat is a very emotionally intense experience. It is not for everyone. It is only for adults willing and ready to explore deeply their past issues and how these issues have an impact on their current and future relationships. It is highly encouraged that you attend this event with someone from your support network but not required (your support person can come for FREE). Come willing to learn, experience, and grow.
